Culture is the worst behaviour you tolerate

In Season 1, Episode 2, Hilton Barbour made this profound statement about culture and it really hit home for some folks!

Arguably one of the most quotable quotes by Hilton Barbour in Episode 2 of Season 1 on workplace culture, was his comment that

Your culture becomes the worst behaviours that  are tolerated by leadership

We have had feedback from listeners from so many different cities, including Chicago, Atlanta, London, Toronto, Lagos and Geneva and they all say the same thing - that comment really hit them hard and they immediately thought about examples in their own organizations of how bad behaviour had been tolerated and then somehow just become part of the fabric or the DNA of the workplace culture.

In addition to his consulting work, Hilton does a lot of writing and you can follow his work on Medium, amongst others. He’s written some great pieces and always has an interesting take on the nexus and interdependency between strategy, culture, marketing and change management.
